3 or 13?

On the way to school this morning, E said, "Mommy, you don't walk me to my class today ok?" "I just go in."

"You don't want me to take you in your class E?"

"No, I big gul now." "You can take me tomowow."

"I can't walk you in this morning?"

"Well, um, you can jus talk to my teacher and then you have to go bye-bye. Okay?"

So we came down the stairs and rounded the corner to her room. I turned to sign her in and she went straight to her class and never even said goodbye. Didn't even look back.

Wait a minute!!...I thought this wouldn't happen for at least 10 more years! She is only 3 people!

I am proud of her, yes. But, I left there feeling so sad and wanting my child to cry. (Twisted huh?)

There's always tomorrow right? :c)

So how did she go the next time? From my experience working in pre-schools I found that often it is the 3nd , 3rd or even 4th time before the child realises they are doing this school thing yet again, and then the screaming starts. Hopefully it won't, though. (My eldest daughter waited 18 months until she began to cry when I left her. She was 5.)

Stacey! I am so glad to hear I am not the only one traveling this road at this time. Girl, we are walking this road together. T. started 4K last week and on his SECOND day - he told me I could drop him off at the door and pick him up at the door-he could find his way to class his own self. And to top it off - he wanted to go into to the house on his own (where his nana and papa were waiting.) - he said I didn't even have to get out of the car. Can you imagine? It is so hard to watch those little ones we love walk away from us! Hang in there - we can only pray it will get easier. your faatie,D.
